Brighton based trio Oh! Captain will treat you to an intense trip along the lines of At the Drive-In and Mars Volta (Drive-In at Mars), long time lovers of walls of sound Carmen Rosa will hypnotise you with their driving guitar work and funky bass lines, and fresh back from tour, Kassassin Street has blown life into krautrock again through a large reed of psychedelia. And then, not only will these three bands blow you off your rocker, but the mighty Black Market Karma are rolling in their big sound from London to send you into space! The visual aspect is going to be immense. The one and only Cassettelord will be conducting live art on the night, and there is an original cassette-piece to be won (drawn from the number on your tickets, so don't lose it!). El Wenche Winlove is showing a supreme collection of her animation films on a big screen in the breaks between music, drive-in cinema style, and Partial Facsimile has promised a mixed media tactile installation. If this wasn't enough to stimulate you watchers, Atomsphere are planning a cymascopic approach to band visuals! We have also been informed that Captain O'Dave of Carmen Rosa has some artwork for us to hang, but it will remain a secret until the night. Let the magic begin! | Early bird ticket on sale now : http://bit.ly/ZJP3Qo Full line up announced May ESP - what is it? Endless Summer Psych? Extra Sensory Projection? Expanding Sonic Pleasure? ESP is a series of psychedelic events, mainly in and around Brighton, which culminate in a multi band, multi DJ psychedelic all nighter at Concorde 2, Brighton, on Sat August 10. ESP is the brainchild of Richard Norris, who has history collecting, releasing and playing many forms of UK psych. Norris was label manager for seminal UK psych reissue label Bam Caruso in the 80's. More recently he hooked up with Erol Alkan as Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve, who released a batch of psych edit EPs and 'reanimations', as well as running his cosmic travel band the Time and Space Machine. Norris, alongside innerstrings psychedelic lightshow and a host of psychonauts, kickstarted the Lewes Psychedelic Festival in 2009, which has been mutating ever since, featuring bands, DJs and the ever present innerstrings psychedelic light show, who colour the walls many shades of acid. ESP is in many ways the Lewes Psych Fest's bigger brother. The Concorde 2 event will feature half a dozen acts (to be announced May 1st) and a dozen DJs, in three spaces throughout the venue. ESP are also threatening all manner of side shows, including face changing, balloon elevation, live action painting, free love and guided levitation. And all manner of light, from innerstrings brain melting lightshow, as well as additional 3D and cognitive light machines. Bring an open mind and have it widened. |
